Orthodontic treatment can be used to improve the alignment and appearance of crowded or crooked teeth. The benefits of orthodontics include the correction of your bite, straightening of the teeth, reducing the chances of damage and of course improving your smile and giving you much more self confidence. Orthodontic treatment for adults can begin at any age and is a much more attractive solution than metal brackets and braces. Here at All Smiles we will be happy to consult with you on this, where we use Clear Correct.
The Clear Correct system uses sets of clear aligners, also known as trays, to straighten your teeth and close the small spaces between them. Clear aligners are easily removable and easy to clean, as well as being invisible so no one will even notice you’re wearing them! Should you be a good candidate for orthodontic treatment then photos, x-rays or impressions may be taken in order to assess your specific needs. Clear Correct will then make a series of aligners which are customized to in order to apply pressure to the teeth you wish to move. Each aligner is worn for around two weeks at a time. Your teeth will move just a tiny amount in that time, with the aligner worn for around 22 hours per day to achieve best results. In some cases, treatment can take under one year to take full effect but will depend on the extent of the issue and on your own personal circumstances, something a consultation will determine.
Do I Need Orthodontics?
The Clear Correct method may not necessarily work for everyone. A more traditional brace or perhaps even surgery may be needed should there be any interfering factors. Clear Correct is usually used for those with issues such as gaps in the teeth, overbites (where the upper teeth protrude over the lower teeth), crowded teeth or other such abnormalities.
The benefits of orthodontics are far greater than simply having straighter teeth. Self confidence and mental wellbeing are affected by how our smile looks. Tooth decay and gum disease too are common and are problems that untreated can lead to something much worse, such as headaches, neck pain and even speech impediments. Orthodontics will also reduce the risk of accidental injury to protruding teeth and undue stresses on the jaw joints as well as aiding speech and making you look younger! Properly aligned teeth are easier to clean and make it easier to chew and bite, meaning a healthier diet is also a benefit of orthodontics.
Remember; healthy teeth can be orthodontically treated at any age and today’s orthodontic treatments are more comfortable and convenient than they ever have been. Not everyone is blessed with a beautiful smile naturally, but it is something we all deserve to have.
